Prestigious international tennis event for women open in Changsha

The Asia/Oceania Group I event of 2024 Billie Jean King Cup opened in Changsha on April 9.

In the fray are six teams, including China, Chinese Taipei, India, South Korea, New Zealand, and Pacific Oceania. Zheng Qinwen, China's top-ranked female player at No.7 in the world, is leading the Chinese squad at the competition.

The Billie Jean King Cup, formerly known as Federation Cup (1963-1995) and Fed Cup (1995-2020), is a prestigious international tennis event for women. The competition, established in 1963, is the equivalent of the Davis Cup in men's tennis. The tennis evenet will last for five days.
